Young Barnet Foundation has over 200 members, some of whom offer programmes and other opportunities that are suitable for children who are being home educated. These offers include:

  • Weekly youth wellbeing sessions for young people in green spaces. 

  • Forest school, team building and water based activities. 

  • Dance movement psychotherapy for disabled or those with lived experience of disability.

  • Maths, English and Science tuition.

  • Face to face and online entrepreneurship programmes.

  • Cookery sessions.

  • CPD accredited training offer (2 x 3 hour sessions) to support adults with their confidence and skills in numeracy. This might be suitable for EHE parents who would like to grow their own confidence in order to support their children and/or other EHE parents

  • Girls’ cricket

  • Football sessions

The ‘Pressreader’ app is available to all registered library users and allows people to use a computer, tablet or smart phone to access publications from 100 countries and in 60 different languages free of charge. All residents need to log into the new app is their Barnet library card number.
Among its 7,000 publications are UK newspapers including The Guardian, Daily Mail, Independent and the Daily Telegraph.
There is also an extensive range of magazines ranging from the latest edition of Vogue and Empire magazine, to Newsweek, Gardeners’ World Magazine and this week’s TV Times.

 

For those keen to catch up on in-depth news overseas, Pressreader includes publications like the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, El Pais and Le Figaro.
Alongside Pressreader, residents can benefit from a range of other online resources already on offer in addition to traditional services in Barnet libraries.
These include ‘Borrowbox’, an app which allows people to listen to an extensive catalogue of audio books for free, and ‘RBdigital’, an app offering a broad choice of popular magazines.

 

Pressreader is available to anyone with a Barnet library card.

Cygnets - Parent/Carer Autism Training

A comprehensive training and support programme for parents/Carers of children aged 6-19, with a diagnosis of autism. This course is available free of charge to families living in Barnet. Other courses and projects available to families, including: Autistic Peer Mentoring and Discovery Journey; Relationships and Sex Education (RSA); Mencap - Supported Internship Placements and Universal Training list - can also be found on the Barnet Local Offer Page - Events.

BACE Holiday Scheme:

Barnet Youth – Child and Family Early Help Service - BACE Holidays - BACE Holidays

BACE Holidays is organised and run by Barnet Council and Young Barnet Foundation and fully funded by the Department for Education.

BACE holidays supports children and young people in Reception - Year 11 who receive benefit-related Free School Meals* in the borough of Barnet.

School holidays can be pressure points for some families due to increased costs and reduced incomes. BACE Holidays provide engaging and healthy activities with an emphasis on physical, emotional, and nutritional wellbeing during the school holidays. Activities may include football, cricket, arts and crafts, performing arts and lots more.

Barnet EHE Parent Networking Events :

The Barnet EHE Parent Networking Events happen once a term and are usually held in one of Barnet's larger Libraries. 

The Networking Events are held to give home educating families the opportunity to get together and discuss all things EHE. It is also a great opportunity to find out what is happening in and around Barnet, including all activities displayed above.
