EXCLUSIONS FROM SCHOOL AND ELECTIVE HOME EDUCATION (EHE)
Every young person permanently excluded from a school in the London Borough of Barnet who are resident in the borough, are expected to attend the borough's Alternative Provision - The Pavilion.
Failure to attend The Pavilion can result in Education Welfare involvement for non-attendance. This may result in prosecution of the parents/ carers.
Parents and carers who elect to home educate their child after a permanent exclusion has been issued will still go through the statutory process and outcomes etc. including the option to escalate to an IRP.
Where there is a threat of permanent exclusion from a school, but this has not been issued, parents/ carers can elect to home educate or make an in-year school application.
Where a parent/ carer makes an application to return their home educated child to school and the child has been previously permanently excluded from a school then the child would still be required to attend the borough's Alternative Provision - The Pavilion - prior to any school return.
Schools work closely with Barnet School Admissions and BELS Exclusions to ensure that all permanently excluded young people attend the borough's Alternative Provision - The Pavilion - prior to any school return.
