Online Education

Children and young people receiving education via an online education provider or online ‘school’ and who are not on roll at a mainstream or special school (state or independent) or attending a specialist provision organised by the local authority, are considered to be home educated.

The Elective Home Education Guidance, 2019 explains this in more detail:

1.2 As a parent you can choose to engage private tutors or other adults, or online tuition, to assist in providing a suitable education, but there is no requirement to do so. There are other settings which may be used, not just the family home.
