Elective Home Education (EHE)

Please click below to register your child with the Elective Home Education team at Barnet Education & Learning Service. We will be in contact shortly to offer support and guidance and to undertake a review of the home education that your child is receiving.

If your child is currently in a mainstream school:

Please register below but ensure that you inform your child’s school in writing that your child will be home educated and the date that this will start. This will enable the school to off roll your child and for us to complete your child’s registration.

If your child has an EHCP and is currently attending a special school:

You will need to discuss your home education request with the local authority to obtain consent to deregister. Your child will need to continue to attend a special school until consent is obtained.

If your child has an EHCP and is currently in a mainstream school:

Please register below. You do not need to obtain consent from the local authority to home educate. Please ensure that you inform your child’s school in writing that your child will be home educated and the date that this will start. This will enable the school to off roll your child and for us to complete your child’s registration.

If you have been home educating but have not yet registered with us:

If you are moving into the London Borough of Barnet from within the UK and your child has been attending a school:

Please register below. If your child has been attending a school outside of the London Borough of Barnet, but in the UK, you should inform the school in writing that you will be home educating your child in the London Borough of Barnet, the date that this will start and your new address in the London Borough of Barnet. This will enable the school to off roll your child and inform your previous local authority who will then contact us.

If you are moving into the London Borough of Barnet from within the UK and your child has been home educated:

Please register below. Please contact your local authority to confirm your new address in the London Borough of Barnet, your move date and that you will continue to home educate your child. This will enable the local authority to remove your child’s name from their register and contact us.
